The Village at Mammoth Acquires 27 Works by Blake DeBock

DeBock Fine Art is proud to announce a major acquisition by The Village Lodge Mammoth, marking one of the largest permanent fine art photography installations in the region. The Village Lodge has acquired 27 works, custom shot for the lodge by Blake DeBock, now installed throughout its public spaces and luxury accommodations.

The collection includes four large 8 ft prints anchoring the main lobby areas, alongside a curated selection of 5 ft and 4 ft works placed throughout the property’s lobbies, hallways and public areas. The collection was developed specifically for the walls it now inhabits.

Custom Shot for The Village Lodge

Having photographed the Sierra Nevada for much of his life and operated his fine art gallery just downstairs for several years, Blake approached this body of work with a clear vision: to create a cohesive Mammoth collection designed to live within the Village Lodge.

Over multiple seasons, Blake focused on imagery drawn from Mammoth Mountain, surrounding lakes, and the high peaks of the Eastern Sierra. The collection was refined intentionally with the lodge’s environment in mind, allowing the work to feel both rooted in place and visually unified within the hotel.

The result is a body of work that belongs to its setting and ties Mammoth Mountain and Mammoth Lakes to the walls of this iconic hotel.

The Artist in Residence

The Village Lodge’s decision to install a purpose-built, single-artist collection reflects a long-term investment in authenticity and sense of place as well as dedication to Blake’s work. The imagery speaks directly to the Mammoth Lakes experience, reinforcing the connection between the lodge, the landscape, and the guests who return year after year.

By integrating large-scale fine art photography into its public spaces, the lodge elevates the guest experience beyond accommodation, creating an environment that feels intentional, inspiring, and enduring.

From Concept to Permanent Installation

From photography and curation through production and installation, the project was executed entirely in house by Blake and his team. Blake personally photographed the collection, oversaw print production, and installed each work on site, maintaining direct control at every stage of the process. With more than a decade in the fine art industry, this level of end-to-end involvement ensured consistency, precision, and a finished result aligned with the original vision.

An undertaking of this scope, carried out entirely by a single artist and team, is exceptionally rare in hospitality installations of this scale.

The completed installation stands as a collaboration between artist and property — a collection conceived for a specific place, produced with care, and designed to live on the walls of The Village Lodge for years to come.

Together, the public and private installations underscore a sustained relationship with owners and guests alike, and further establish Blake DeBock’s work as an integral part of the visual identity of the Village.
