Caring for Your Blake DeBock Fine Art
Art Care & Handling
Each Blake DeBock fine art print is built to last for generations, but proper care ensures it continues to look its best. Follow these guidelines to protect the clarity, framing, and archival quality of your artwork.
Cleaning the Print
Great care should be taken when cleaning the surface of your fine art piece. Fortunately, both Acrylic and Metal Prints are nearly maintenance-free and typically only require light dusting once hung.
For Acrylic Prints:
Use a clean, soft cotton or microfiber cloth to gently remove dust and fingerprints. Always wipe in long, straight motions — avoid circular rubbing or pressure. Never use window sprays or household cleaners, especially those containing alcohol, ammonia, acetone, or other harsh chemicals, as they can cause permanent damage to the surface.
If deeper cleaning is needed, we recommend an acrylic-safe product such as Brillianize or NOVUS 1 Acrylic Polish. For minor scratches, NOVUS 2 and 3 may be used with caution, though professional guidance is recommended.
For Metal Prints:
Use a soft cloth to gently wipe the surface. If needed, a slightly damp soft cloth can be used, followed by drying with a clean, dry cloth. Never use abrasive pads or rough materials, which may scratch the finish.
To preserve the longevity of your artwork, handle with care and avoid contact with chemicals, abrasive wipes, or cleaning sprays not specifically made for fine art surfaces.
Cleaning the Frame
Our natural wood frames have a protective wax finish that should only require occasional dusting with a soft cloth. To clean our Obsidian black frame, use a high quality microfiber cloth applying light pressure with a dampened cloth and dry carefully by blotting the cloth.
Cleaning the Linen Liner
We recommend cleaning the linen white or black liner with compressed or canned air. Test the air to make sure no liquid is expelled first. Never use water or cleaning sprays — linen is porous and delicate.
Handling & Hanging
Always handle artwork with clean hands or cotton gloves.
Do not touch the acrylic surface directly — it can scratch or smudge easily.
Use the included z-bar or keyhole system for secure installation. For large-scale works, professional installation is recommended.
Environmental Considerations
Display indoors, out of direct harsh sunlight.
Avoid exposure to moisture, high heat, or extreme temperature shifts.
Long-Term Maintenance
Refrain from excessive cleaning — once every few months is often enough.
Always use archival-safe materials.
