Blake DeBock Unveils Stallions of the Sea, A New Fine Art Series

Blake and Alejandra DeBock at the 2025 Winter Unveiling at Blake DeBock Fine Art Gallery in the Village at Mammoth.

Summary:

Blake DeBock Fine Art Gallery in the Village at Mammoth is a premier fine art photography gallery in Mammoth Lakes, presenting limited edition, museum-scale work photographed across the Sierra Nevada, the American West, and international destinations. The live unveiling of Stallions of the Sea, a new fine art series photographed in Mexico’s Caribbean region, reflects the gallery’s commitment to ambitious fieldwork, large-format presentation, and world-class fine art experienced in person.

A Live Gallery Unveiling of a New Fine Art Series

With the gallery full and the energy high, each photograph was revealed individually throughout the evening as Blake and his newlywed wife, Alejandra, shared the vision behind the collection and the story of each piece. The veils were removed one by one, giving every work its own moment and space to be experienced.

Shot in Alejandra’s home country of Mexico, Stallions of the Sea marks the beginning of a new Mexico-based collection. The series follows two distinct horses set free to run and swim along the white sand beaches of the Caribbean. In the days following the shoot, Blake and Alejandra chose to elope in nature, deep within a cenote cave in the Yucatán Peninsula.

As each image was revealed, the room shifted. Conversations paused. People moved closer and listened as the stories behind each photograph were shared.

The collection was kept deliberately secret until the night of the unveiling. Even those closest to Blake and Alejandra had not seen the work before it was revealed in the gallery.

Thank you to everyone who packed the gallery and shared that moment with us. Nights like this are a reminder of why showing the work in person matters. Not just to see the images, but to experience the reveal together.

About Stallions of the Sea

Photographed along a remote stretch of the Caribbean coast, this series follows two stallions as they are set free to gallop on the white sands and swim with the ocean waves. This collection is built on contrast—two stallions, one black, one white, set loose in a place made for neither and somehow perfect for both.

Set against the open coastline, they reflect something elemental: light and shadow, presence and force.

The black horse is power. The white is spirit. Their movement feels both instinctive and timeless, like something remembered rather than guided. The collection draws influence from the Mayan world, felt in tone, in energy, in the titles that name each piece, and even in the names of the horses themselves.

Together, these images capture a rare kind of beauty, the quiet pairing of power and grace, and the unexpected poetry of horses at the edge of the sea.
