Oregon, 2021
Months before opening my first gallery, I was living out of my truck while traveling through the Pacific Northwest. I knew the clutch was failing, but with deadlines approaching, a lease to sign, and a gallery to build out, I kept pushing forward, determined to make it back to California. Instead, the truck finally gave out in rural Oregon near the farm of a childhood friend. What was supposed to be a quick trip turned into weeks of rain on the farm and waiting for repairs in a small rural town.
While stranded there, I found myself exploring corners of Oregon I might have otherwise passed by. One rainy afternoon, I discovered these falls hidden deep within the forest beneath towering basalt cliffs. Looking down from above, I knew I had to find a way to experience them from below. Climbing with my dog Luna down the wet terrain, I descended into a lush world of ancient volcanic stone and crystal-clear water.
Standing beneath the falls, I felt I had discovered the reward hidden within an unexpected detour. In the cool rain of the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by cascading water and a landscape overflowing with life, I could think of no more fitting name than Eden.
